Day One
Singapore → Taiping

Departure from Singapore

One of Malaysia's oldest zoos, home to over 1,200 animals including tigers, elephants and orangutans. Both day and night safari experiences available — great for families.
Dinner — Restoran Yut Sun or night market

Day Two
Taiping → Penang
Museum + Clock Tower · ~2 hour drive · George Town heritage
Breakfast + Taiping Museum & Clock Tower
Taiping Museum (1883) — Malaysia's oldest museum with colonial artifacts and natural history exhibits. Then photograph the 1881 Clock Tower, a whitewashed colonial landmark in the town centre.
Depart for Penang (~2 hrs)
Cross the iconic Penang Bridge or take the ferry across to the island.
Lunch — Gurney Drive Hawker Centre
Legendary seaside food street — char kway teow, Penang laksa, rojak, oyster omelette and more. A must-visit introduction to Penang's world-famous street food.
George Town heritage — street art, Clan Jetties + Blue Mansion
Hunt for Ernest Zacharevic murals in UNESCO-listed George Town. Stroll Chew Jetty's wooden boardwalk. Tour the indigo-blue Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion — Chinese-European heritage architecture from the 1880s.
Dinner — Nyonya restaurant or seafood
Authentic Peranakan dishes like ayam pongteh and assam fish, or fresh seafood by the waterfront. Hotel check-in in Penang.
Day Three
Penang → Ipoh
Penang Hill funicular · ~2 hour drive · Ipoh Old Town
Penang Hill — funicular ticket included
Southeast Asia's steepest funicular to the 800m summit — panoramic views of George Town, The Habitat rainforest walk, colonial mansions and the Sky Walk. A must-do before leaving Penang.
Depart for Ipoh (~2 hrs)
Scenic drive south through Perak's countryside back toward Ipoh.
Arrive in Ipoh — lunch at local café
Bean sprout chicken with hor fun, white coffee at Nam Heong or Sin Yoon Loong — your first taste of Ipoh's legendary food scene.
Qing Xin Ling Cultural Village + Concubine Lane
Scenic heritage village with limestone hill backdrop, vintage bicycles and lake walkways. Then stroll Lorong Panglima (Concubine Lane) for souvenir shops, street food and charming photo ops.

Full Day in Ipoh

Kek Lok Tong Cave Temple
Stunning cave temple within a limestone hill — Buddhist and Taoist altars, dramatic rock formations and a peaceful landscaped garden at the rear. One of Ipoh's most serene attractions.
Ipoh Railway Station + Mural Street
The "Taj Mahal of Ipoh" — Moorish-Victorian colonial station built in 1917, still operational. Then stroll the Mural Street open-air art gallery on old shophouse walls.
Lunch — Dai Shu Geok Food Court
Famous "Big Tree Foot" food court — a Ipoh institution for authentic local flavours including dim sum, curry noodles and hawker classics under big trees.
Lost World of Tambun (optional admission)
Multi-themed adventure park with water slides, a natural hot spring spa, petting zoo and night jungle experience. Fun for all ages — great for families wanting thrills and relaxation.
Dinner — Chinese set meal or hotpot
A warm Chinese set dinner or cosy steamboat hotpot to wind down your penultimate day.
Day Five
Return to Singapore

A hauntingly beautiful unfinished colonial mansion in Batu Gajah built by Scottish planter William Kellie Smith in the early 1900s. Hidden stairways, colonial ruins, legends and panoramic views — ~1 hour visit.
Begin return journey to Singapore
Head south on the highway toward Singapore with optional scenic stops along the way.
Lunch stop — Tapah or Seremban
Final Malaysian meal en route — beef noodles at Seremban or hawker dishes at Tapah before the last stretch home.
Arrive in Singapore
